The Post Graduate Department of Geography in Amar Singh College campus wasestablished in 2005 and till date is the only PG Department of Geography in the college.The Department of Geography was initially started at SP College in 1941 and then itwas shifted to Amar Singh College in 1946 along with men (Human resource) andmaterial (Lab equipment). Amar Singh College was the only college in valley wheregeography was offered at graduation level as one of the core subjects. The Departmentof Geography was headed by A.N. Raina (1946-66), the first indigenous Ph.D. inGeography.The permission to start PG was given to this department in due recognition ofhigher academic standards set by the department. At present we are running UG, IG andPG Programmes successfully. The department at present has the faculty strength of four(04) with diverse specializations and good teaching experience. The faculty membershave pursued their studies and research from prestigious Universities of the country likeJNU, Jamia Millia Islamia and Kashmir University. The department is the only PG,Geography Department of the Cluster University having such a qualified andexperienced faculty, besides having a departmental library and remote sensing and GISlab.
